It goes further and has students research Core Democratic Value's that occur in situations all around the world. It involves a summary of the article, the Core Democratic Value involved, and the rationale behind it.
Equality, Article , Assignment KUD's and I CansKUD stands for know, understand, and do. These are used to begin writing a complete unit plan with lessons. They organize what the students should gain from each of the standards. The I Can statements summarize what the students should be able to say once the lesson is completed.
