Infinity by Lillian R. Lieber is very interesting and unique in the aspect of mathematical texts, but that is what makes it so easy to read. What makes it so unique is the author's writing style. It makes it very easy to read, yet it contains great information. Lillian Lieber explains infinity to the readers using mathematical terms and concepts simply. She presents us with an entertaining and thorough explanation of what infinity means and the idea behind it. She does it in a way that allows non-mathematicians to understand what she describes and explains. In the short sentences, she was able to capture the different forms of infinity, whether it be in the real world or just mathematics.
I enjoyed reading this text greatly because it was a nice change in mathematics book styles and it was very easy to follow what she was meaning to get across to the readers. She provided us with valid and important information about infinity without confusing us. She did not jump around the topics, but rather dedicated each different chapter to another aspect that we find infinity in. What I also liked were the illustrations of the explanations. Providing images of the graphs gives the readers a visual of what is being explained, so they can picture what she means in a different style.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about infinity, no matter what their mathematical knowledge is.
